This new module expands the family of peripherals compatible with Xiaomi's "Mi Home" solution, this time to add a temperature and humidity function.

You will be able to take this notion into account in your scenarios by linking it to the SmartPlug Wifi for example or simply to receive a notification in case of temperature or humidity overrun.

When paired with the "Mi" control panel, the "Mi Home" application will display live temperature and humidity data as well as historical charts for the day, week, month or year.

Probe configuration

To add your probe to the "Mi" central unit, simply launch the "Mi Home" application on your Android Smartphone, go to the Smart Home Security, select the type of device to include, then click 2 seconds on the association button on the side of the probe.

After 30 seconds of detection, your new probe must appear on your "Mi Home" Dashboard. The first page shows the temperature and humidity data live (refresh every 5 minutes), or a second page in the form of gauges.

By clicking on the Temperature, you will have access to the histories graphs in portrait or landscape mode. By cons, I have not managed to go back to the previous hours with a slide or de-zooming, certainly a bug in the application.

You will, therefore, associate this probe with your scenarios or alerts as below by choosing a value of reference temperature (Ex: 22 °) and adding in answer a spot of your choice among the different possibilities which will be offered to you.

This could be an alert threshold notification, an On / Off trigger action of your SmartPlug or SmartBulb, and if like me you also have the Universal Remote, you can even control your air conditioning Infrared.

My opinion

Still a new choice for owners of Xiaomi Smart Home Security solution, unfortunately, the application is still very poorly translated and there are far too many Chinese in the various menus and choices to use all possibilities.

There are, however, quite a few alternative versions translated into English on the Net or some Xiaomi forums, but here too, it will be necessary to grope to use this solution and it is a pity because of the quality of the peripherals and rather to the meeting. you with ZigBee for communication between the control panel and the modules.

I was also able to verify the accuracy of this probe's data by comparing the returned values ​with my other EnOcean probes and the result is virtually the same at 0.2 ° C for temperature and 2% for humidity.
