Test 1: Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Cleaner, 5 Stars Product!

A robot vacuum cleaner in every home is no longer science fiction and no gadget with ever more powerful products and especially less and less expensive. Where the high-end in this sector is positioned in France with a minimum entry price of 500 €, or even double when they are connected, the Robot Xiaomi Mi vacuum with these high-end features is offered unless from 350 €. I personally use this vacuum cleaner for over a year. This test is not a simple unpacking with a euphoric vision of the first moments.

Xiaomi on all fronts

Once again, I'm talking about a product of a brand that is close to my heart: Xiaomi. This company puts on the market innovative products of very good quality but at the best price. And products there is a catalog of this brand in all dimensions of high-tech, computer but also in the world of home through home automation.

Known and recognized even though it does not sell anything officially in Europe. You have to go through specialized import shops which are within reach of a click. My model that comes from Banggood become in two years the reference of purchase of any high-tech product of Asia. I would have received my Xiaomi vacuum cleaner in less than 10 days, free of charge and free shipping.

A high-end robot vacuum cleaner

Below a certain range (less than 500 €), robot vacuums cleanse mainly chaotic, random. They avoid obstacles but without optimization which affects the cleaning time and their efficiency in general. Parts of a room may be forgotten when others will have multiple passages. This point is particularly disadvantageous if you plan to clean several rooms at the same time.

Well, this cleaning method is ridiculed by laser range finders like our Xiaomi. This vacuum cleaner maps the workpiece using a laser-distance sensor (360 °) 1800 times per second. From this map, he will methodically clean the room by never going twice to the same place.

An application in constant evolution

A classic vacuum cleaner, no need for a manual to use it but when it comes to a robot, more connected, it must be realized that a phase of setting will be necessary.

When it was launched, Xiaomi only offered its application in Chinese. In April 2017, it spent in English and a year later in French with more selection of cleaning area!

The robot also speaks English thanks to a language pack.

So back to the vacuum. The packaging, very clean, contains the machine, a base, an English power cable (to replace with a cable of standard Europe very easy to find), a Chinese mini documentation and a small cleaning tool comb type.

No wearing parts are delivered with the vacuum cleaner as some competitors: no additional filter (as it is HEPA type, it does not wash) or mini side brush.
